Tidepool Granola - Homemade Hermit Crab Food Breakfast by the ocean! This granola mix is filled with sea favorites - sea urchin, shrimp, plankton, krill, kelp granules, and crab & lobster shell. It also has an added boost of color from blue spirulina! Ingredients: Shrimp, Plankton, Krill, Organic Kelp Granules, Blue Spirulina, Protein Oats, Organic White Chia Seeds, Sliced Almonds, Chopped Walnuts, Organic Date Powder, Organic Unsulfured Raisins, Organic Crab & Lobster Shell, Crushed Sea Urchin Pieces. Small Bag - 2.7 x 3.5 Inches - Approximately 0.50 - 0.60 ounces Medium Bag - 3.5 x 5.1 Inches - Approximately 2.0 - 2.1 ounces. Weights may vary by batch very slightly. This mix is a nutritionally balanced meal! It includes ingredients from each of the following nutritional categories - Protein, Fruits, Vegetables, Fats/Omega Fats, Carbohydrates, & Calcium. We always want to make sure your hermit crabs get all the items needed for a healthy diet. The focus of each mix will always be protein - as it is absolutely essential. Ingredient Transparency: All ingredients used are prepared to make them safe - for example - beans, leafy greens, and meats are cooked & dehydrated. Items grown or foraged by me are frozen and then boiled or baked to ensure safety. Only safe parts of plants are used - for example peppers are used, but NOT the pepper plant - cilantro is used, but only the bolted flowering tops. Food Preparation: To ensure freshness, I make all foods in small batches. I am trained in human food safety and use the same standards for the food I prepare for hermit crabs, however THIS FOOD IS NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. I make all mixes and store all food ingredients, food and preparation materials in a dedicated office that is only used for the shop. The ingredients I use are a combination of freeze dried and dehydrated items. Some ingredients used are purchased ingredients and some are home grown or foraged. If an item is foraged, it is sanitized with a wash in dechlorinated water and then is frozen or baked to ensure it is safe for the crabs. All items are preservative and additive free. Foods that are certified organic or that are grown by me are listed as such. Feeding Amount: I recommend serving approximately ¼ teaspoon per 2 crabs. Protein is absolutely essential in the hermit crab diet, so I recommend always feeding an extra protein every day - dried or fresh. Hermit crabs love variety but eat very little at a time so small servings of many items seems to work best in my experience. Storage: Food should be stored in a cool & dark area. Keep bags fully sealed to ensure freshness or transfer to a sealed container. Food will last at least 1 year if stored properly. Eco Friendly: I am striving hard to be as eco-friendly as possible (while not blowing your budget!). I currently offer brown Kraft bags, use greenline biodegradable bags for our samples, paper bags or reusable bags for our bundles and ship using cardboard and paper that is recyclable. Any bubble wrap used is obtained from a local recycling facility and we humbly ask you to reuse or recycle it. Food Allergy Info: Please read ingredients carefully in case of food allergies. All of the items I prepare are prepared in the same bowls, using the same mortar and pestle, blender, and cutting boards. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in my mixes, please do not purchase.
