Antique Union Shaving Scuttle, Hand Painted Floral, Gold Trim, Patented 1870

This is a gorgeous antique English shaving mug with purple flowers and teal green and gold leaves, decorated with gold gilt. This piece is backstamped with an 1870s date. It's well over 150 years old! The florals appear to be Purple Gromwell which is a rare woodland plant found growing exclusively in limestone-based soils. It is limited to a small growing region in Wales and South West England.
