Keep your equipment in the same pouches, even when changing rifle platforms and between a chest rig or plate carrier setup! With durable canvas, kydex inserts, snap button pouches, Velcro backer, placard buckles, and the retro aesthetic; this is designed to be the last magazine carrier you’ll ever need. Two Models: (Placard Chest Rig): 1. Three front kydex magazine inserts that work with AR and AK platform mags for positive retention and re-indexing. 2. Snap button closures on the outer 4 pouches for use with radios, tools, medical, and additional magazines. 3. Adjustable backstrap with swift clip compatible buckles for chest rig and plate carrier use. 4. Removal of the three front magazine flaps for use with the kywi-style inserts. 5. Addition of a Velcro backer for use with danglers or plate carriers. 6. Addition of swift clip compatible placard buckles for use with plate carrier setups, and different harnesses. (Rig with Clip-In Backpack): These include the placard chest rig with all of the modifications listed above plus: 1: Metal hardware and webbing sewn into the chest rig harness for clipping in the included modified surplus alpenflage camo rucksack. (You can also attach a PTT or other comms equipment into this webbing). AND Alpenflage Rucksack Modifications: 1. Adjustable buckle added to the waist strap. 2. Carry handle added to the top of the pack. 3. Snap buttons added to the two deep side pouches for better retention. (Dyed Placard Rig): Grey dye and fixative water transferred to change the reed green models to a darker ranger green type color. Due to this process, each rig is unique in its shading of green. The Alpenflage rucksack can be accessed by unbuckling the waist strap and either: unclipping from the harness OR simply flipping the pack over your head to access the contents in front of your chest. I got this idea from the design of WW2 airborne packs which allowed you to quickly access gear on your own without removing your backpack. If you have a preference on shade of alpenflage, please contact me before ordering (I will try to accommodate if possible). I began modifying chicom rigs years ago for the purpose of bringing these low-profile canvas chest rigs with an excellent aesthetics into the modern age. Being a fan of the original Red Dawn movie and needing a rig that could adapt to use with different rifle platforms, I landed on the Type 63. After many prototypes with varying styles of hardware, I came to find that this model was the best option for long rucks with a backpack due to its low profile sewn-in pouches and slick, rugged harness. The kydex inserts were a natural progression, making quick magazine changes and positive retention easy with Ak47, Ak74 and AR15 style magazines (AR10 pattern mags have been tested and work, although re-indexing is slightly more difficult). Additional snap button pouches on the flanks allow for radios, medical supplies, tools, additional mags or sustainment. This rig is perfect for those who utilize different rifles but don't want to switch their accessories between multiple, expensive rigs. As with any military surplus materials, condition may vary with different spotting from storage and slight color variation but can be expected in roughly the condition of the pictures above. Epoxy used in attaching the velcro may be seen around the velcro backer. Listing does not include the additional items used for demonstration. The placard configuration only comes in the dark green color. Since I am offering free shipping within the US, I will be shipping with the best value option in regards to speed and cost. For non-AR users, I have added kydex guards that can be moved to either side of the mag pouches to add extra protection from the locking tabs present on AK or other rock and lock pattern rifles. Just make sure these are on the side of your mag's locking tab. Also, due to an apparent distain for free-time, I have begun adding stitching to the epoxied webbing folds with a hand-crank stitching machine. This is unnecessary, but it adds a nice touch. God bless you and have a wonderful day.
