Vintage Richard Rothbard Live Edge Free Form Burl Wood Jewelry or Trinket Puzzle Box 7 Piece Beautiful, rustic, hand carved live edge wood puzzle box by Richard Rothbard. This gorgeous puzzle box is hand carved from one piece of burl wood with incredible craftsmanship; a true work of art. Richard's pieces are crudely stylish and very popular. There are 7 pieces when strategically taken apart with various tiny compartments for jewelry or small treasures. The interiors are burgundy velvet flocked. Signed by artist on bottom. The overall measures are 2.75 inches in height x 7 inches in width x 3 inches in depth. In excellent condition, very minimal wear due to age and use. Richard Rothbart began woodworking while he was an actor in New York City, crafting his version of rustic Colonial furniture and paneling for his apartment. In response to flyers posted backstage in Broadway theaters, he received small assignments; mostly bookshelves and tables that he made in his living room. Richard tells stories, takes the most beautiful woods and turns them in to complex puzzle boxes. There is no end to it... and as you will see there are endless beginnings, which Richard best describes as poetry, psychology and philosophy in wood.
