The Seasonal Almanac is a printable botanical gameplay expansion designed to add changing seasons, weather, garden events, rare ingredients, meaningful care choices, and multiple endings to your sessions in The Apothecary’s Garden — Book One. Hidden beneath the lowest greenhouse shelf is an old botanical almanac. Its pages record how the garden changes through Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Inside are weather tables, rare herbs, forgotten garden events, and notes from earlier keepers who believed the garden remembered every choice made on its behalf. Before brewing each Book One remedy, you will choose a season, roll the weather, reveal a Garden Event, and decide how the keeper responds. Will you Nurture what is beginning? Protect what is fragile? Release what has completed its season? Or Wait for the garden to reveal what it needs? Your choices will change the story, unlock Rare Seasonal Ingredients, shape the Garden Progress Tracker, and determine which of five possible endings you reach after twelve sessions. Rare Winter Ingredients: • Frostmint • Sleeping Root THE SIX WEATHER CONDITIONS Roll one six-sided die at the beginning of every session: 1. Gentle Rain The garden softens and thirsty roots awaken. 2. Golden Sunlight Hidden colours and overlooked details become visible. 3. Heavy Fog The keeper must tend what is directly ahead without knowing the full outcome. 4. Restless Wind Seeds, labels, and memories are moved out of place. 5. First Frost Something fragile must be protected before nightfall. 6. Lantern Storm Unusual garden lights awaken rare herbs and hidden events. The weather is not only a tracker result. It should become part of the remedy story and may change the rules of the current session. THE FOUR CARE CHOICES NURTURE Offer nourishment, encouragement, or active care. Reflection lens: What could grow with steady attention? PROTECT Create safety, shelter, or a necessary boundary. Reflection lens: What is too fragile to remain unguarded? RELEASE Allow something to end, move, or return to the soil. Reflection lens: What cannot be carried forever? WAIT Observe without forcing an immediate answer. Reflection lens: What needs time more than action? HOW TO PLAY 1. Choose Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter. 2. Roll one six-sided die on the Weather Table. 3. Choose or randomly reveal one Garden Event. 4. Respond with Nurture, Protect, Release, or Wait. 5. Apply the Seasonal and Weather Effects. 6. Check whether a Rare Seasonal Ingredient has been unlocked. 7. Draw a Customer from Book One. 8. Draw an original Ingredient from Book One. 9. Brew the remedy using the normal Book One rules. 10. Add an unlocked Rare Ingredient when eligible. 11. Write how the season and garden affected the remedy. 12. Record the session in the Seasonal Session Log. 13. Mark the chosen Care symbol on the tracker. 14. Update the Garden Progress Tracker. THE FIVE POSSIBLE ENDINGS THE GARDEN IN FULL BLOOM Reached when Nurture is your most frequent Care Choice. The garden flourishes, but the keeper learns that they do not need to carry every growing thing alone. THE GARDEN BEHIND THE GATE Reached when Protect is your most frequent Care Choice. The garden becomes safe and sheltered, but the keeper must learn when a protective gate may become a welcoming door. THE SEEDS CARRIED AWAY Reached when Release is your most frequent Care Choice. Seeds travel beyond the walls, creating space for something new and carrying the garden’s story elsewhere. THE GARDEN THAT WAITED Reached when Wait is your most frequent Care Choice. The garden appears quiet, but strong roots have been growing beneath the soil. THE KEEPER OF MANY SEASONS Reached when two or more Care Choices are tied. The keeper learns that no single response is right for every season.
