Recommended DTF Transfer Application Guide Step 1: Prep Your Garment -Start by pre-pressing your shirt or fabric to smooth out any wrinkles. -This also helps remove any moisture from the material. -Pre-press at 300°F for 3–5 seconds before applying the transfer. Step 2: Apply the DTF Transfer -You don’t need to apply the transfer right after printing — it can be stored for later use. -Place the transfer sheet design side up, so the white backing rests against the fabric. -Press at 300°F for 10–12 seconds using medium pressure (around 60 psi). -For garments made of 100% polyester, lower the temperature to 285°F. -For sensitive or delicate fabrics, you can go as low as 260°F to avoid damage. Step 3: Peel the Film -Cold Peel! -For Instant Peel DTF transfers, this is a hot peel process. (Check your specific transfer type: some require cold peel instead.) -Be aware that some heat presses may run hotter than indicated. Excessive heat (over 320°F) can cause the adhesive to stick to the ink rather than the fabric. -If you have difficulty peeling, try lowering the press temperature to somewhere between 260°F and 285°F. -If it still doesn’t peel cleanly, let the transfer cool completely before peeling. Step 4: Final Press (Post-Press) -Always finish with a post-press to lock in the design. -Cover the graphic and press again for about 4–5 seconds. -This improves the print’s durability and helps it withstand washing better. Additional Tips: -Unlike sublimation, DTF works on a much wider range of fabrics. -Produces vibrant, high-quality prints on most materials. -Standard DTF transfers are compatible with Cricut Easy Press or similar handheld presses — but note that you may need to press longer (up to 30 seconds) and apply firm, even pressure. -For best results, particularly with specialty films, a standard heat press is recommended for consistent application.
