I make our Deep Amber hair forks from .080" Bronze wire. I cut, bend and then hammer them into their shape...and then add in a glass sphere. These spheres cannot be changed like the moon catcher pendants though. Measurements; Width is approx 1 inch Length - Your choice of length Being made from bronze, you can put up your hair with them while it is still wet, and it won't tarnish. My hair forks are very well polished, and will not snag your hair, or scratch your scalp...I also have long hair, and understand the importance of caring for it... I can put one in my hair and it will stay all day, maybe only needing one fixing. They work great with a knot bun, a french twist, a flip twist, and just about any way you can twist up your hair. I have been making these since about 1986, and people who have them are still wearing them, and often ask me for a second in another colour. I will make them in lengths from 3", up to 6"...if you are not familiar with inches, please convo me and we can figure the length you would need in cm. Width is approx 1 inch For length, I generally suggest wrapping your hair into a simple knot bun, measure across, then add 1/2 inch. I've designed this style to have a spring (flex) in the tines. If you gently hold the tines open (think bobby pin) while you weave them into place, being sure to catch some hair by the scalp as an anchor - then let go once it's in place? The tines will spring back some to trap your hair giving a better hold. With this spring flex, as your hair shifts it will flex slightly to avoid pulling your hair, and so helps to distribute the weight better and helps prevent long hair headaches. If you don't open it and the tines cross in your hair, it will still want to spring back, but it will push the fork back out slowly. Glass Sphere - which is made from silica sand. ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º©©º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨°º©©º°¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨ CARE & CLEANING Metal/Wire hair forks do need to be treated with care. As we use them, we Weave them into place gently. Metal is very strong, but will bend if we try to crank them into place as we would with wood or plastic. Metal cannot take the same torque as wood or plastic, but overall has a far longer life, and won't break under heavy hair. Taken care of, these hair forks are heirloom quality and can be passed down through many generations. If your hair fork bends out of shape while you are learning to use it, I can fix it! :) Please message me to work out the details. As these forks are Handcrafted by me, I can fix most accidental damage. I find that Brasso polishes my hair forks very quickly and well.
