Great rod' i paired it with a 3000 , dropper loop with 1.5 oz you can cast a mile, it was a gift to my nephew and he was impressed on the distance to a previous 7.6 rod

Great Penn rod for the money. The quality is spot on. Like the textured grip, helps setting the pieces firmly and disassembly. Reel seats in perfectly, no modifications needed. The guides are great. Ready to hit the surf! Tight lines to you all!

i was UNABLE to test and give a oroper review because WHOMEVER PACKAGED THE PENN FISHING ROD PUT NO PROTECTIVE WRAPPING AND SIMPKY PUT THE FISHING ROD IN A APROXIMATE 10 INCH BY 10 INCH BY 9FT BOX THAT FLATTENED AND BENT 14 INCHES FROM THE TOP BREAKING THE ROD TIP IN 2 PLACES. I REMEMBERED AFTER RECIEVING IT THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED A YEAR AGO. VERY VERY POOR PACKAGING

have used this 11 ft. penn squadron surf rod 3 or 4 times now with a penn squidder old school surf reel and today with a new penn fathom casting special reel and am absolutely thrilled with the quality and performance of this rod. I have many rods, some more pricey, but I get more casting distance with this one. most highly recommended.
