I thought this would be perfect for my mid-size poodle who likes to chew and tear up everything. Unfortunately it made his gums bleed so I had to take it away. So even though I said I wouldn't recommend it, it truly depends on your dog. I guess my dog's gums are strong enough.

My daughters dog loves to pull on this Rope Toy. He will drag it to us to play tug-of-war with him. He pretends to growl while he is pulling on his side. He also likes to drag it through the house as the winner in tugging. He has a lot of fun with it %26 likes having someone to play with him. I don't know who enjoys the most.....me or the dog.

Have an Akita Pup, She destroys all, her toy's. Ropes she figures how to untie them. X-Large Nylabone's destroyed in fifteen to twenty minutes. It has been two weeks, and we play with this one all the time. She loves it. Chews on it too. Still in one piece and looks great. I do trim ends off first so she don't eat them. Yes, will buy her this one again!! She is 75 pounds and still growing, glad to find something I'm not taking away from her right away. It has been a challenge. Also, no Dyes!!

This tug rope is very sturdy. I think it's going to last a long time. I like the knots in it so our dog can get a good grip on it. I think he is also trying to unknot one of the knots, lol.
