Westcott 15 Inch Trim-Air Guillotine Paper Trimmer with Wood Base

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think this is a pretty good option for the price. It appears to be pretty well built (though there's a lot more plastic than I would prefer) and solid. The only issue I have with it is that it's pretty light weight. When I was trying to cut through its stated maximum amount of paper (30x 20lb sheets), it struggled a bit due to the amount of force needed and its light weight, rocking the whole thing up on its back feet a bit. To be fair it didn't help at all that I was trying to do it one handed while recording a video. It was also pretty tight fitting 30 sheets of paper under the clear plastic guard. Less than 30 pieces of paper and it cuts beautifully though. 20 sheets can be cut pretty easily and the edges of the paper where cut look very clean. The cutting arm motion is smooth and crisp. It appears the blade can be unscrewed for sharpening, which would be a big benefit for the long run. The board itself appears to be particle board with a faux wood lamination or vinyl wrap on top for the grid lines (and also to make it look like solid wood). I also appreciate the clear plastic guard, which makes me less concerned (though I'll still supervise) with my children using it. I think if someone tried to they could put their fingers on the other side and hurt themselves, but if they're not trying to they should be pretty safe. All in all I think this is a really good option for a really reasonable price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to get a good paper slicer at home! I've had the kind with a rolling razor blade and they were handy but snagged. This is so much better. I've ended up using this at school and home, it's better than having to use the ancient one in the teachers lounge. Cuts cleanly and has a good surface for lining up and keeping things in place. Very happy to have this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a solid unit of a trimmer. Solid wood and metal shape the trimmer, with a clear plastic guide that runs along the length for your protection and clean cutting. Nice large size. Comfortable grip.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This paper trimmer is great! It looks and feels high quality. It is also light and easy to move around, while still very stable. The 15-inch size first attracted me. We cut legal size forms daily. This cutter is super sharp and effortlessly cuts 10 sheets at a time. I haven't tried more, but can't imagine it would be a problem. You'll be glad you upgraded cutters once you use this one!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the modern update of the old wooden guillotine paper cutter. It is seriously heavy duty with modern updated materials. The composite wood base will be much more stable than solid wood over time. The cutting mechanism is plenty heavy and it will indeed cut 30 sheets of paper, without excessive effort on the part of the user. The base is appropriately large to cut anything hobbyists would need. The soft-grip handle really makes using the tool easier. There is clearly a lot of thought that went into this design. The materials and construction are quite nice. The marks make it easy to line up your cut. The price is a good value for the product you get. I think this is the end-game paper cutter for hobbyists.

If you have a light weight plastic one, you don't know what you are missing out on. The extra weight of this one, along with the extremely sharp blade makes it easier than ever to complete projects where you need to cut or trim. I'd very much recommend this trimmer!

The build quality is sturdy and i like the look of the wood grain design. the blade is sharp and cuts through paper easily. i tried fabric as well just to see and it even did okay with that. the handle is comfortable and the motion is smooth.

The safety lock and guard are great safety features. It does really well with multiple sheets of paper, or with thick card stock or thin cardboard. This is a game changer for craft projects and invitations.

Other paper cutters I've had before clearly had specific ways to handle or hold it to avoid cutting yourself or others as you work, but the features on this design really made me comfortable for its use in my classroom as well as my home. The cutting feature itself works very smoothly through paper, and the blade is very precise. It's clear and easy to measure well for an exact cut.
