The Frigidaire 0.9 Cu. Ft. Counter top Microwave Oven, Red, EMW953 I bought was shutting down at 3 minutes, like clockwork. You could not warm up or cook anything that requires more time because it requires waiting time before you can use the microwave again.

This might sound a bit odd but I personally only use this microwave to cook frozen pancakes. They only take about 90 seconds but for some reason only half are burning hot and the other half are cold. Also the light inside flickers from time to time, not sure why. I did get it on clearance so I can't complain too much. It looks nice and has the essential microwave features, nothing too fancy.

I wanted another red microwave. I read the reviews on this item and thought that it would be a perfect replacement. I have ordered online from Walmart MANY times and this is the first time I am disappointed. The size-perfect. The color-scrumptious. Directions-easy to operate. I was disappointed that out of the box, there appears to be a dent on the top front corner. It was packed tight and there were no dents in the box, so I believe this dent was there before packaging. Also the top of the microwave cannot have any weighty things on top of it or the top buckles. The other thing seems to be the door and the latch are kind of flimsy.Its operation appears to be good, but I hope it will hold up under being used several times a day. If I wouldnt have to wait again for a replacement or a different microwave, I probably would return it. I dont like the hassle I think that could be.

Love the color that is the reason I selected this model. I use the timer on my microwave ALOT! It is on a shelf above the stove and I use it to time things in the oven or on the stove. It is VERY DISAPPOINTING THAT THE TIME LEFT ON THE TIMER IS HIDDEN BEHIND THE CLOCK AFTER JUST A FEW SECONDS. Would NOT have purchased it if I had know this. Looked at the booklet (poor in my opinion) to see if it was a setting I could change - nothing listed.

This RCA, 900 Watt, $59 microwave will serve you well for common cooking tasks, such as reheating portions of already cooked foods in microwave suitable containers or plates, cooking TV dinners in microwave suitable containers, heating all manner of soups, or other liquids, in microwave suitable containers, bowls or cups. It can also cook small portions of raw, uncooked foods, such as chicken or beef - but here, you really need a microwave cook book to guide you, as well as a "microwave safe" meat thermometer. Just remember that the microwave cooks from the inside out, not from the outside in, like a regular oven; so you can make good use of spices,marinates or cooking sauces when using your microwave, to cook raw foods. It is critically important that you always cook your foods on a clearly labeled "microwave safe" platter, dish or bowl, that can be placed on the rotating round plate that comes with the microwave, that is affixed on the furnished bracket that goes in the bottom interior of the oven. Cooking dishes that are safe for microwave use are clearly labeled as such on the bottom. If a cooking utensil is not designed for microwave use, what happens is that the emitted microwaves from the oven are reflected off the dish, back into the microwave, which will soon destroy the microwave, and you will just have to throw it away. One really nice feature about this microwave oven is that commonly cooked foods have a separate, clearly labeled button on the front of the microwave panel. All you do is push the button to cook these foods - microwave temperature and cooking time are already preset: "Popcorn", "Beverage", "Baked Potato", "Frozen Dinner", "Pizza", "Reheat", "Cook by Weight", "Defrost by Weight", and "Speed Defrost". ( In some cases, when one of these buttons is pushed, you need to add other info like small or large, etc.) A comprehensive, small, user's manual is also furnished. It is really important that you read this, focusing on the "Do's and Don'ts". If you are really interested in microwave cooking, perhaps in an effort to save cooking time, buy a copy of the "Betty Crocker" microwave cook book, or a similar publication. There are also much larger microwaves available, starting with the 1100 Watt version, all depending on the amount of space you have available, and the amount of money you have to spend. Being retired, on a modest fixed income, I really have to shop around for everything I purchase, for personal use or for the home. I am not embellishing reality when I tell you that Walmart is truly "The Top of the Line" for literally everything you or your family might want or need. If Walmart does not stock the item you want, scroll to the bottom of the page, where you will find referrals to other vendors who do offer this item for sale. Beautiful shiney red matches perfectly with my kitchen colors. Have it two weeks now and runs fantastically. It slides a little on the counter, but fixed that with the non-slide mesh you can buy in the dollar store or at Walmart. Have had quiet a few comments from friends how great it looked in my kitchen and they didnt know microwaves came in colors now. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a microwave especially in red. Great price, others that I priced were at least $20 higher.

I recently remodeled and was looking for red appliances. The only options I found was this RCA and another much more expensive and larger sized microwave. I'm exceptionally happy with my decision to buy this one. The preset buttons are a little off time wise. I barely use them anyway. It cooks food fast for a 900 watt microwave. My only gripe is that this is a countertop microwave, and the bottom of the microwave is very smooth. When you open the door the whole microwave tends to move on the countertop. I found 2 easy solutions. I bought some rubbery shelf liner and cut a small section for under the microwave. After a while I found some rubber stoppers that you can buy almost anywhere for only a dollar. They are adhesive backed and look like half a sphere. I stuck the stopper to the microwave and then set it on the counter. It hasn't moved since. It looks fantastic, cooks like it should, and I have had no problems at all.

I have only had this microwave for about a week now, but the color is perfect and was exactly what I wanted. I have a small kitchen and the size fits perfectly on my counter top. It has a really nice design except for opening the door. My last microwave was a push button and this one you have to pull it open with force or hold the microwave with one hand and open with the other. If you give it a gentle tug to open then the whole microwave will slide on the counter. Other than than, the overall product was a good buy.

I have only had this a couple of weeks but so far, no complaints! That's why only 4 stars for durability. This replaced a huge Panasonic microwave/toaster which I loved but was 13 years old! So, I decided to downsize and this RCA is a perfect size. The red and black looks great in my kitchen.
