Rental friendly!! Looks amazing and easy to setup and use. I did it by myself with no help. Very sturdy and holds heavy weight curtains with no problem. It's stuck and will not budge.

  • Smart Rods Adjustable Tension Single Curtain Rod
    BApr 29, 2026

A great idea if you don't want to drill holes for window drapery. Yes, they can be a little cumbersome to install with curtains already hanging on them but they do the job and I don't have to contend with holes in my wall as I don't have wood framing, just drywall.

  • Low Quality
    ChelseaDec 29, 2024

It didn't work. I gently removed the finial to put on the curtains as the instructions said, and then when it was time to place the finial back on, it would not screw on. I looked inside to see what was blocking it from screwing in and nothing was. It was the screw that was falling apart, just withering away like chalk. Whatever material is being used is very low quality.

  • Difficult set up
    KellyJan 30, 2017

This is a quick fix if you can't drill holes in your wall, and the price is right. However this tension rod is not super sturdy and I feel it could fall with a slight tug. It was difficult to set up because the directions were flip flopped to what the actual rod was doing. Took us forever to get it to stay. When all is said and done, this does hold up our curtains...just not a long term fix.

  • Super easy!

The hardest part about this rod is getting the package open! It was really super simple once I read all directions thoroughly. There's even helpful directional stickers on the product itself. It looks absolutely beautiful in the window. You would never know it's not a traditional rod. It comes with an optional middle support for larger windows. I know that's not technically "tool free" but it's only optional.I didn't need it. Some bigger window rods can bow down in the middle & it would be necessary. My window wasn't much bigger than the rod itself. I thought it would fit the bedroom window but it's just a bit too long, I used it instead in the living room on a double-type window. The instructions say two people for assembly. I had my daughter help some but it definitely wasnt necessary. Overall. I LOVE this product! I will definitely use more in the future. It's easy, it's hardy , well made and beautiful!

  • very versatile rod

The rod is unbelievably easy to use. In less than a minute I can have curtains hung in any window in my house. I have also found that it works great in doorways and hallways if I need to put up a temporary divider. Another use we have found is to take it with us when we travel. My wife needs total darkness to sleep so we have found that we can take her light blocking curtains with us and hang them in the windows. It is so much easier than trying to patch up the light hole with towels or clothing. Actually, this is probably how we are going to end up using this thing:A travel rod.

  • Remarkable!

I can't rave enough about this Twist and Shout Smart Window Rod Hardware. I received my 48" - 84" Smart Rod free as a Walmart Spark Reviewer. It is as easy as that too - twist and pull to the desired length, press down the middle to hold and you are done. No hardware necessary! Unscrew the left bracket so that you can put your curtains or in my case drapes and panels on the rod, screw the left bracket back on again and you can see that on the inside of the rod brackets there are two finials (one on each side) so when you extend the rod to the appropriate length these two small finials press against the window wall. Once you have extended properly and tightened you are done! If your drapes are real heavy there is a rod support with 4 screws which is included that you may use in the center to help support your drapes. I will say that mine are fully lined and quite heavy and I did not have to use the support bracket. As a matter of fact it hardly took me anytime whatsoever to put my drapes up. No fuss, no muss, no screws to try to put in. A single older person such as myself had no difficulty whatsoever. I will be buying another one for my bedroom and thank you tremendously for this product!

  • VERY SMART IDEA

TWIST AND SHOUT SMART WINDOW ROD HARDWARE IS A VERY SMART IDEA. I LOVE THAT I DON'T HAVE TO FIND MY HUSBANDS HAMMER OR DEAL WITH THOSE TINY NAILS. THE DIRECTIONS SAY YOU NEED TWO PEOPLE TO INSTALL BUT, I INSTALLED BY MYSELF. ALL I DID WAS DONE MY INITIAL ADJUSTMENT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW WHERE I COULD REACH GOOD. WHEN I WAS READY TO INSTALL ALL I HAD TO DO WAS PUT IN PLACE HOLD WITH ONE HAND TIGHTEN WITH THE OTHER. VERY SIMPLE. THE ROD IS LIGHT ENOUGH TO HANDLE AND SEEMS TO BE VERY STRONG. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS INSTALLING AND WHEN IT IS UP IT IS UP. I DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT FALLING, ITS VERY SNUG AND STAYS IN PLACE. AS YOU CAN SEE IN MY PHOTOS WHAT I HAD BEFORE IN THIS OLD HOUSE THE HARDWARE HAD BEEN PAINTED AROUND. NOW I CAN REMOVE ALL THE OLD HARDWARE PAINT AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT TAKING CURTAINS DOWN AND PUTTING UP, OR THE OLD HOOKS WIGGLING THERE WAY OUT AND THE NAILS NOT HAVING ANY HOLD SINCE THE DRYWALL GETS MESSED UP. AND HA HA I DID IT BY MYSELF, IT MAY HAVE NEVER GOT DONE IF I HAD TO WAIT ON MY HUSBAND TO GET AROUND TO IT. LOVE THIS PRODUCT, GREAT IDEA.

  • You won't believe how easy it is to install!

This is the first product I have reviewed for Wal-Mart that I am immediately planning to buy another one of! The Twist and Shout Rod works exactly like it says it will. There are clear and simple instructions to follow. The left end comes off, so placing curtains on the rod is super easy. Then, basically, all you do is place the left bracket to one side of the window, and then telescope out the right side until it is firmly placed on the right side of the window. The instructions encourage two people to do this. Once in place you tighten the rod by twisting the right finial until it twists no more. I was worried that my window would not work with this system since I have uneven beveled edges on my window, but this was not the case. I also have blinds installed inside the window frame, and these are not a problem in my case either. I live in a house I don't own, so I hesitate to put nails or other hole-creating objects in the walls. This has been a problem since I moved in, because the blinds are not opaque enough to block the light from the street light and I couldn't place a traditional rod on the window due to the "hole" restriction. This curtain rod has solved this problem. There will be no permanent mark left on the wall or the woodwork! The only thing I would add is that if you wish to put this in a wide window be aware that the brace they give you to place in the center must be SCREWED into your woodwork. Also, if you own a "curtain climber," whether canine, feline, or human, be aware this rod is only rated to hold 20 pounds.

  • "Lefty-Loosey, Righty-Tighty" GONE BAD!
    BluestJun 28, 2015

Oh how I was looking forward to reviewing this product for Walmart. I even purchased new drapes for this rod. Unfortunately this "Smart Rod" never made it to the window and neither did my new drapes because it simply fell apart before getting there. As a middle-aged woman in her mid-50's, I have spent 30+ years in the pipe fitting industry so I know "Lefty-Loosey from Righty-Tighty." The rod is beautiful but the use of plastic screws and plastic sleeves makes this product a "Fail." As well, the directional stickers on the rod point the wrong way. The User thinks the plastic screw may be stripped because they keep turning it in the direction stated, to no avail; until they try and turn it the opposite way to find out that it is tightening! Yes, the rod tightens, but the aftermath is such that the plastic screw is now lodged into the plastic screw sleeve and there is no way to retrieve it out. Very unfortunate that manufacturers continue to use these, "once only" plastic screws and sleeves. This is the second time I have reviewed a product and ran into this problem with plastic screws and sleeves. They simply do not work, or, if they do, it's once only, thus, not making this product very mobile friendly. This removable/mobile rod is supposed to be used on multiple applications from residence to residence. I just don't see that happening until the manufacturer replaces these plastic screws with stainless steel or a similar metal. As it stands with my rod, the plastic screw is lodged into the bracket within the plastic sleeve and there is no way to retrieve it out. Again, a beautiful drapery rod but if the "hardware (i.e., plastic screws and sleeves) can't keep up with the beauty of this rod, it's time to shop for something more durable, long-lasting, and truly mobile from one residence to the next. Again, I was looking forward to hanging beautiful with ease but it just didn't happen. I suggest the old fashioned way of drilling the rod into the wall until a product with more sustainability enters the Market.
