A handmade cotton scrunchie in marigold gingham and a small multicolour wildflower print. Two fabrics are pieced together around the ring, so the yellow check and the floral alternate as you turn it — the gingham reads first from a distance, and the flowers show up close. The floral is dense and dark-grounded, in magenta, teal, purple and cream, which keeps the yellow from going washed-out in sunlight. Sewn from quilting-weight cotton over a covered elastic core, about 5 inches across when laid flat. Gathered full enough to hold thick hair in one or two wraps without digging in. Soft enough to sleep in and to wear on a wrist all day. Machine wash cold, hang to dry.
