Orbicular Ocean Jasper Cabochon – First Vein Madagascar This beautiful cabochon was cut from first-vein Ocean Jasper mined along the northwest coast of Madagascar. The earliest Ocean Jasper deposits were collected by hand at low tide along the shoreline, and the mine is now exhausted. Today, material from the first vein survives primarily in old stock and private collections. This stone displays classic orbicular patterns in deep green jasper with soft cream banding and translucent areas. The layered banding and clustered orb structures give the stone a natural landscape-like appearance. When backlit, the stone shows lovely translucent agate zones, adding depth and character to the piece. This is a wonderful example of classic Madagascar Ocean Jasper and would make a beautiful pendant or collector cabochon.
